Stephen D. “Steve” Thompson Stephen D. “Steve” Thompson

Steve is Managing Director – Oilfield Service of Quintana, where he is responsible for the evaluation and operational aspects of oilfield service investments. He is also head of the Fund’s Oilfield Services Sector. Steve has over 29 years of U.S. and international oil and gas industry experience. Steve served as Quintana Minerals Corporation’s General Manager of Santa Cruz I UTE in Argentina. Steve is a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Steve attended Texas Tech University, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering.
John W. Wessels John W. Wessels

John is Managing Director – Engineering of Quintana, where his responsibilities include reservoir engineering and economic evaluations and oversight of the general reservoir management of oil and gas investments. John has 33 years of diversified engineering experience, including 25 years with Quintana where he has held numerous technical and managerial positions including Reservoir Engineering Manager of the Louisiana Division and Operations Manager of the Rocky Mountain Division of Quintana Minerals Corporation. John also served five years as Vice President of KUKUI, Inc., an independent exploration and production company that specialized in the production of coal-bed methane. John is a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. John attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.S and an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering.
W. Ralph Rice W. Ralph Rice

Ralph is Managing Director – Geology and Geophysics of Quintana, where he is responsible for the geological and geophysical review and evaluation of oil and gas acquisitions and investments. Ralph has over 30 years of U.S. and international geoscience experience. He also oversees Quintana’s prospect generation, geologic oversight and seismic processing and interpretation. Ralph is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Ralph attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned an M.S. in Geology.
Charles H. “Chuck” Kerr Charles H. “Chuck” Kerr

Chuck is Managing Director – Gasification of Quintana, where he is responsible for the Robertson family’s efforts to develop two coal-fired mine-mouth gasification projects in the Western United States. Chuck has over 28 years of experience in corporate structuring and contract management. Chuck is a Certified Professional Landman. Chuck attended Montana State University, where he earned a B.S. in Business Finance.
Benjamin C. Danielson Benjamin C. Danielson

Vice President – Investments and Chief Investment Officer – China, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Previously, he was a Vice President with GE Energy Financial Services, where he managed upstream oil and gas investments for GE Capital, and an associate with the GE Capital Structured Finance Group in its global energy division. Prior to GE, Ben worked as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ben also served as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army. Ben attended the United States Military Academy, where he earned a B.S. in Mathematical Economics, and The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned an M.B.A.
David Rohanna David Rohanna

David is Managing Director-Asia, Mining and Natural Resources. He is an experienced executive/senior manager with a broad and extensive background of 35 years in management, operations, engineering, and project management, in the mining, coal preparation, and bulk material handling industries. Prior executive management positions include President and C.O.O. of the ROAG Group, President and C.E.O. of Phoenix Mining Corporation, Managing Director and Group Executive Director, ELECTRA Group, Managing Director and Group Executive Director, Hillmar Industries, Managing Director-EurAsia, John T. Boyd Company.
George G. Dethlefsen George G. Dethlefsen

George is Vice President – Investments of Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Previously, he was an Associate with the general partner of Natural Resource Partners, conducting corporate finance and valuation activities. Prior to joining Natural Resource Partners, George was with Goldman, Sachs & Co.’s investment banking division, where he worked with energy, power and consumer products companies. George attended Rice University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics and Managerial Studies, and The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned an M.B.A.
Stephen H. Dexter Stephen H. Dexter

Stephen is Vice President – Investments of Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Quintana, Stephen worked in the business development group of Hunt Oil Company where he evaluated oil and gas acquisition and divestiture opportunities, participated in the development of both the Peru LNG and Yemen LNG projects, and sourced energy-oriented private equity investments on behalf of the Hunt family. Stephen began his career in the energy investment banking division of CIBC World Markets where he was involved in numerous equity and debt underwritings as well as merger and acquisition advisory assignments. Stephen attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.B.A. in Finance.
Christopher J. Baker Christopher J. Baker

Chris is Vice President – Investments of Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Quintana, served as an Associate with Citi’s Corporate and Investment Bank where he conducted corporate finance and valuation activities focused on structuring non-investment grade debt transactions in the energy sector. Prior to Citi, Chris was Vice President of Operations for Theta II Enterprises, Inc. where he focused on project management of various complex inland marine and subsea pipeline construction projects. Chris attended Louisiana State University, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and Rice University, where he earned an M.B.A.
Shan J. Moon Shan J. Moon

Shan is Vice President and Portfolio Manager of The Don Evans Group, Ltd. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and monitoring investments for Quintana. Previously, he was a Planning Analyst with Pure Resources, a U.S. exploration and production company owned by Unocal Corporation. Prior to Pure, Shan served as President of Neodyme Technologies, a $100 million private healthcare maintenance management company. Shan attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a B.B.A. in Finance and an M.B.A.
Dwayne R. Morley Dwayne R. Morley

Dwayne is an Associate with Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies.  Prior to joining Quintana in 2007, Dwayne was an Analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in their E&P Capital Group with he focused on executing and monitoring private debt and equity investments in the upstream and midstream sectors.  Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Dwayne was an Investment Banking Analyst at Banc of America Securities in the Natural Resources Group.  While at Banc of America, Dwayne focused on the upstream, midstream & coal sectors - evaluating and executing public and private M&A, and debt and equity capital markets transactions.  Dwayne received his B.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University where he also participated on the NCAA Division I golf team.  He is currently working towards his MBA at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.
Matthew Niemczak

Matthew is an Associate of Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Quintana, Matthew worked at UBS Investment Bank in its Global Energy Group, where he focused on executing debt and equity capital markets work, mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyout engagements for public and private energy clients. Matthew attended Harvard University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics.
Alexander Chmelev Alexander Chmelev

Alex is an Associate of Quintana, where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, as well as managing and monitoring the activities of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Quintana, Alex was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of Simmons & Company International, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions within the oil and gas, midstream and oilfield services sectors. Alex attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering.
Paul J. Cornell Paul J. Cornell

Paul is a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Quintana. Prior to joining Quintana, Paul served as Chief Financial Officer of Quintana Maritime Limited from January 2005 until its sale in April 2008. Prior to joining Quintana Maritime, Paul served as Vice President of Finance for Quintana Minerals Corporation since 1993 and has been employed with Quintana Minerals Corporation since 1988. Paul attended Niagara University, where he earned a B.B.A. in Accounting.
Steve Putman Steve Putman

Steve is a Managing Director and General Counsel, of Quintana. Prior to joining Quintana, Steve served as Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Quintana Maritime Limited from August 2005 until its sale in April 2008. Prior to joining Quintana Maritime, Steve was an associate in the Corporate Finance and Securities section of Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P., Houston, Texas, and in the Tax Controversy section of Mayer Brown LLP, Chicago, Illinois. Steve attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.A. in Plan II, and the University of Chicago, where he earned a J.D.
Loren J. Soetenga Loren J. Soetenga

Loren is a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Quintana. Prior to joining Quintana, Loren was Director of Ranger Capital Group and Ranger Capital Markets, a $600 million investment manager of hedge funds and traditional investment products. Prior to Ranger, Loren was a Partner of John McStay Investment Counsel, a $6.5 billion investment firm. Before joining John McStay Investment Counsel, Loren was an equity analyst for Chronos Management. Loren attended Texas Christian University, where he earned a B.S. in Economics.
Jimmy A. McDonald Jimmy A. McDonald

Jimmy is the Executive Vice President – Finance and Accounting of Quintana, where he is responsible for the accounting and financial oversight of Quintana and its portfolio companies. Jimmy is a Certified Public Accountant with approximately 20 years of diverse experience in finance, accounting and management in the power industry and other energy sectors. Prior to joining Quintana, Jimmy held various management positions with the McNair Group, El Paso Merchant Energy, and Ferrell North America. Jimmy attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a B.B.A. in Accounting.
Robert C. “Bo” Sturdivant Robert C. “Bo” Sturdivant

Bo is Vice President - Finance of Quintana. He is responsible for Quintana’s risk management. Bo has been with Quintana since 1974 and is a Certified Public Accountant with over 34 years of diverse experience in finance, accounting and management in oil and natural gas, real estate, minerals and other industries. Bo is a Licensed Securities Representative and holds an Insurance License. Bo attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he received a B.A. in History and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting.
Shelley Manley Shelley Manley

Shelley is Controller of Quintana. Her responsibilities include accounting for all of Quintana’s investments, working with management and outside audit and tax professionals. Shelley has over 20 years of diverse experience in accounting, onshore Texas and Louisiana, offshore Gulf of Mexico, international experience in Alberta, Canada and other energy sectors. Prior to joining Quintana she held positions of Financial Analyst and Manager of Accounting at Stone & Webster Oil Company. Shelley also served as Secretary for two of its subsidiaries Spruce Hills Production Company and San Salvador Development Company. Shelley is a member of the Petroleum Accountant Society of Houston. Shelley attended University of Houston, where she received a B.S.
Eva Clark Eva Clark

Eva is a Senior Paralegal of Quintana. Prior to joining Quintana, Eva was a part of the legal team of Halliburton’s KBR division and played an integral role in KBR’s separation from Halliburton. Prior to KBR, Eva was with Pioneer Companies, Inc., a chemical manufacturer with eight plants in the U.S. and Canada. At Pioneer, Eva was involved in M&A and transaction structuring involving large domestic and foreign acquisitions, asset sales, and contract negotiations, as well as related acquisition financings and capital-raising transactions and restructurings. Eva is a member of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas. Eva is currently attending Texas A&M University.
Larry J. Townsend Larry J. Townsend

Larry serves as Director of Insurance for Quintana, Natural Resource Partners, L.P. and Quintana Minerals Corporation. He works closely with management, legal and insurance brokers to provide a quality risk management program. His responsibilities include the identification and measurement of risks of loss arising from Quintana’s operations and overseeing the management and placement of its insurance program. Larry has 30 years of experience in risk management and insurance, 25 years of which were with Mitchell Energy & Development Corp., an independent oil and gas company, where he served as Director of Risk and Insurance. He most recently served as Risk Manager for the Port of Houston Authority. Larry attended Sam Houston State University where he received a B.B.A. degree in Management.
Debbie S. Leiss Debbie S. Leiss

Debbie serves as Insurance Manager of Quintana, Natural Resource Partners L.P., Quintana Minerals Corporation and Quintana Maritime Limited. Debbie's responsibilities include overseeing the due diligence, placement, maintenance and management of property and casualty insurance. She works closely with management, legal, insurance brokers and consultants to provide a quality risk management program. Prior to joining Quintana Minerals Corporation in 1990, Debbie served as Lease and Division Order Analyst for Kilroy Company of Texas, Inc. She is a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society. Debbie attended Louisiana Tech University, where she received a B.A.
Nancy H. Smith Nancy H. Smith

Nancy is the Vice President - Finance of Quintana, where she is responsible for the accounting and financial oversight of Quintana’s portfolio companies. Nancy is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of diverse experience in accounting and finance in the energy sector. Prior to joining Quintana, Nancy held various accounting management and consulting roles in the energy sector including Calpine and Dresser-Rand. Nancy attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she earned a B.B.A. in Accounting and the University of Houston where she earned an Executive MBA.
Alex Szozda Alex Szozda

Alex is the Manager of Finance and Accounting of Quintana, where he is responsible for various treasury, financial reporting, and financial due diligence functions. Prior to joining Quintana, Alex worked at Ernst Young in its Transaction Advisory Services group, where he conducted financial due diligence on several financial and strategic deals, mostly within the energy sector. Alex attended Cornell University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics and the University of Virginia, where he earned an M.S. in Accounting. Alex is a Certified Public Accountant.
